Match report Super Two's Simply Outstanding

The Heron's put in their finest performance against a strong Brentwood side, a team that has sorely missed several key young players due to school commitments, although they turned out here against a strong Wanstead side.

Batting first, a solid start was built upon by an impressive 86 run partnership between Ismael Dar and Bilal Patel, both of whom continue to show great maturity in their batting.

At 202 for 6 with 9 overs remaining, the match looked poised with 250 seen as par score. Some outstanding batting followed by Nabeel and Misem, who rotated the strike superbly which then allowed them to play more expansive shots as the grew in confidence. Their 70 run partnership came of less than 40 balls.

Wanstead knew they had significant work left to do but a season best performance from Andre Louw, arguably his best since joining the club, saw the Herons control Brentwood during the power play overs, with them set at 24 - 2. This was followed up by brilliant fielding all-round with Misem showing why he is such an excellent prospect with the ball, ending with 9-0-40-4

Truly excellent cricket from a very young Wanstead side, with several players surely hoping to break through to the first team - next week, Ilford at home who kept up the pressure with a win over Buckhurst Hill...
