Match report A return to winning ways for the Super Two's who increased the lead to 7 points with a hard fought win over bottom placed Southend. Knowing 25 points would ease the pressure heading in to the final week (away v Colchester), Matt Smith was superb at the toss and decided to bat (his most telling contribution all day!).

As it turned out, Wanstead need not worry about selecting the appropriate time to declare, as the team were bowled out for 221 in the 41st over - either stupidity or strategic brilliance was behind this tactic of ensuring we had plenty of overs to bowl the opposition out (55!). Mahesh Velani starred with the bat as he plundered his way to 93.

Now to the difficult bit; and Wanstead's all-australian opening attack took two early wickets before it became evident that it was a day for the spinners. Jahansher Akbar's spell of 10-2-33-5 was worthy of winning any match - so often he has bowled superbly without reward - and today he proved what a fantastic prospect the club has as he looks to challenge his 1XI peers next season. IGNORE THE FACT THAT HE SUPPORTS MAN UTD, this guy can bowl!!

One more win for the Super Two's to retain their title.
