Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club Lost By 1 run!

Match report The ladies struggled to get players for this game and were down to 7 late saturday evening! With the girls away at their own Matchplay final Skip somehow managed to find another 3 so we went with 10 players.

After beating Hitchin by 7 wickets in the semi final, the ladies made it to the final of the T20 Cup against Old Actonians who beat Harrow in their semi final on the same day.

A very exciting final for the ladies who won the toss and chose to field.
The run rate was kept at around 6 an over and Old A's finished on 125-5 after 20 overs.

Quite a decent score to chase, Saba opened the batting with Neha who got caught on the 3rd ball of the 1st over! In came Zainab who survived a few in swinging deliveries before being run out with an excellent direct hit at the stumps from fine leg due to not sliding in her bat! Lesson learned!

Skip played a very sensible innings, hitting any bad balls for four including a 6 off a full toss delivery! Tor helped steady the innings and created a good partnership with Saba, running singles and twos where we could before she got bowled by a ball that stayed really low.

In came Hannah, who kept the scoreboard ticking and we were going at 5-7 runs an over from overs 12-15. We needed 39 to win off the last 5 overs and the scoreboard went like this:
5 runs in 16th over
3 runs in 17th over
8 runs in 18th over
9 runs in 19th over
Needing 14 runs to win off the last over, this is how the last over went:

We fell agonisingly 2 runs short off a win and 1 off a draw to take it to the super over! Another fielder would've helped but nevermind.

Great batting by the team and Saba who scored a magnificent 92* and for taking it to the last ball of the game, well supported by Tor and Hannah and a great effort to become Runner's up with 10 players! A great season for Wanstead ladies! League winners and T20 Cup Runner's up!
