Match report It was with much enthusiasm that the Slowcoaches ventured out to Pastures Youth Centre in Leytonstone on a rainy Saturday morning. Only 14 hours earlier the slowcoaches had turned out in Chelmsford and recorded a fabulous win so were in good form and voice. We won the toss and decided to bat first as one of the players was stuck in traffic. So, Alan and Jim open.

The oppositions bowling was very enthusiastic and there was some playing and missing and duff calling leading to the gallery enjoying the scary running that was happening. After a decent hit by Alan of a ball that was apparently going for a 6, it actually hits the corner first and they have to run, meaning that Alan's running to the danger end. And you can guess what happens next? what you can't?. Okay, let me explain. Alan Lord ran himself out. Okay, the total hadn't achieved double figures yet, the team wasn't worried as Finlay was next in as Ritchie was still late. There wasn't much running between the spring loaded stumps and even less from Jim when he received a Jaffa of a ball that made the springs ping back and dislodge the bails. No complaint from anyone.

So in walks Ritchie, slowcoaches batsman of the year, with a lot of expectations on his shoulders. Ritchie has had a run flowing season outdoors. His bat was leaking runs this summer, so all the team expected a retirement to happen. Well you can guess what happened? what, you cant guess? okay, Ritchie continued on from the end of the previous indoor season....he chopped on to his stumps without worrying the total therefore releasing the Dr to the crease. The laughter from the gallery was to see if we can actually be bowled for a score below 20. It was looking a distinct possibility if we continued to do ourselves in with the style and skill of people who have never played the game before.
