I am delighted to announce that the Management Committee has approved a tour of Kenya by the club in October 2020. The tour is for those aged 18 (as of 1st October 2020) and over only. Like previous tours, we encourage male and female playing members, social members and families to join us. Like all our tours, there will be a mixture of competitive games of cricket as well as sightseeing including a personalised safari from the Masai Warriors.
The club takes enormous pride in the community work we do locally as well as internationally.
In the past 7 years our members, as part of respective club tours have volunteered to help raise awareness and fund for some incredible charitable organisations:
- 2013 and 2016 – Tour to Jamaica to Support the Courtney Walsh Foundation
- 2017 – Tour to South Africa to Support the Khayletisha Township
- 2018 - Tour to Sri Lanka to Support the Foundation of Goodness
On the tour to Kenya we will be supporting the East Africa Character Development Trust (EACDT).
As part of the Clubs Oversees Tour Charter, the objective remains to ensure the tours fulfil three key criteria:
To be Educational, Cultural and Inspirational involving opportunities for our members, supporters and their families to visit overseas countries that have strong cricket traditions or to assist in developing the game at potentially less playing countries. A high priority is to provide some overseas community support during these tours. For many of our members these tours introduce them for the first time to the third world, to communities less well off than our own.
