Match report In 30 degree heat at The Paddock, Saurav lost the toss and was asked to bowl for 40 overs in the heat. And so began the Fives innings that was to test Wanstead's bowling and fielding. With lots of catches going down to both teams, fives put up a total of 250 for their 40 overs. Kishen Patel top scoring with 84, and Hugo supporting with 44.
Wanstead's reply was on course, but a flurry of wickets and some tight bowling meant that the run rate escalated and the Wanstead players had to make some risky second runs...and didn't make them. That aside, it was exciting to watch Nick A & Finlay CB hit the ball around the park attempting to meet the run rate. Feroze gets a special mention for an excellent 51 innings. Overall a disappointing result but 5's deserved the victory and as usual, Shiren and Co were very gracious victors.
