Match report A tough challenge against a high quality Billericay 1XI who I tip for promotion from the SNEL Division 2.

Wanstead won the toss and chose to bowl. Jack Lord impressed with the new ball and had two very close LBW appeal's turned down that would prove to be influential moments as the batting side amassed a challenging 248 - 6. The disappointing feature was 23 wides and 5 no-balls - close to an additional 5 overs bowled. Nonetheless the bowlers continued their efforts on a flat pitch.

In reply, the Herons lost two wickets in the first over and found it difficult to gain momentum. Strong counter-attacking by Mahesh Velani took some control and Nabeel Aziz showed strong character to wrestle back some control with a 86 run partnership with Matt Smith. But with boundaries hard to come the team succumbed to a respectable 195 all out.
