Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club 2nd XI v Woodford Wells CC (Timed) on Sat 30 May 2015 at 1pm
Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets

Match report A win over the local rivals is always an enjoyable day.

This proved to be an up and down day for our leader MS Dhoni. In batsmen friendly conditions, we won the toss and elected to field, this proved to be a stroke of genius. It was then pointed out to him that we only had 10 players as Moeen Ali was late coming from Headingley (he was just up watching the boxing the night before).

The opening partnership of Ali and J lord, kept things tight, and managed to pick up 3 wickets between them, J lord bowling a customary spell of 7 overs 1 for 20 odd, and Ali picked up a couple of wickets. The most exciting part of the first half of our fielding was a debate between MS and J lord about the ECB bowling regulations. The second half proved more successful, as wickets tumbled on regular occasions, with returning Webby picking up a couple of wickets, and Nugget actually beating someone in a race to claim a great run out. The Wells were bowled out for 183.

The reply start well, with MS banished from the changing room, our chairman gave the batters a team talk, which was along the lines of ‘batters we have a long time to get these runs, so just go in a give it a whack’.
Ali and Izzy opening the innings got us off to a steady start, before Izzy missed a straight ball and got bowled, with the score on 30-1. 2nd XI debutant Bilal Patel came to the crease and looked comfortable playing some nice strokes, and with Ali finding the middle of the bat hitting some delicious cover drives which went to the boundary like tracer bullets took the score to 90. Bilal attempted to run a single to a ball which went straight to the wicket keeper and was stumped. This brought in Nugget who was on a pear following a 0 the week before, played in his usual fashion brutally chipping the ball all over the ground, including a maximum. Ali passed 50 and was looking to accelerate, and got nervous in the 90s and was caught behind, for 90. MS played around a straight ball, on a road and was sent packing by the umpire for a golden, nugget was caught a few overs later, which left jack lord to see us home in the 32nd over.

Three wins, in a row for the super 2s, chants of mosey have now almost disappeared.
