Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club Won by 59 runs

Match report Wanstead batted first and with a revised batting order, reached 64 for 3 off the 6 over powerplay. A very creditable start indeed but this foundation was not fully capitalised on with a reasonable 35/1 off the next six overs but a poorer 39/3 off the following 6 leaving us on a total of 138 for 7 off 18. By no means a poor score but in what were good batting conditions, perhaps less than what we would have been looking for given the excellent start. Happily, once again the depth of our batting saw Finlay CB and Faheem reap 31 runs from the last 2 overs with honours going to Finlay for his 21 off the last over bringing the Wanstead total to a very competitive 169 for 7. Excellent effort.

Walthamstow's reply was immediately stunted by a quite extraordinary spell by Jayden who took 2 wickets for 2 runs in his first 3 overs. His fourth over btw, the last of match...was a maiden! With 8.5 rpo required from the start and having scored only 25 off the 6 powerplay overs, Walthamstow found themselves needing over 10.3 rpo thereafter, a scoring rate they were never able to match and they subsided to 110 for 6. This result doesn't fully reflect their ability as they have several talented individuals, not least Mark Golding who topped the batting figures on the day with 42 off 28 balls. The Walthamstow bowling was also a lot better, particularly in the middle overs, than the match figures suggest. If it wasn't already obvious, Wanstead bowling honours go to Jayden for what may well prove to be his life time best figures...

Wanstead fielded with the ability and intensity we have come to expect. This represents excellent progress as we now know the standard we have set ourselves and are well on our way to becoming the best fielding side in the Club! Our accuracy was much improved over the performances in the last 3 matches. Not yet quite where we'd like it to be...but very, very much better. Congratulations all.
