Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club Lost Lost

Match report Ramon opened the batting. We Lost. (If you want to establish causality between the first and the second event then it's entirely up to you).
More importantly, check the team's bowling figures!

OMG...what a very biased report!...The above remarks are not the 'Official' report so you can treat the remarks with the respect they deserve. (You can guess who wrote the 'biased' report. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out.

The accurate report follows...

For those who are wondering about the causality issues mentioned above. The author isn't making any direct reference to the opposition...well at least I don't think he is. Well if he is, he is used to making grovelling apologies so has a stack of them on his computer ready to email/print/hand out to the relevant offended parties. So feel free to feel offended and complain.

Anyway, to the report...

As it turns out Ramon did appear as one of the openers along with Alan. Alan wasn't supposed to open this week. He had sacrificed this earlier in the week when a 'discussion' had taken place. But as it happens, the other opener had an attack of the collie wobbles and refused to walk out, so it was left to Alan to open with Ramon. The official play cricket score card will show that Alan and Ramon top scored and the rest of you got out by playing some seriously rubbish shots. Only Ramon got out in the unlucky way. Run out by a really fluky throw by the fielder who was also amazed at what happened. Alan claims he was given out LBW while defending a straight delivery that hit the middle of his bat. Nah..no umpire can be that blind. Its just the usual Alan trying to explain why he gets himself out in the most ludicrous of ways week in week out.
When Ramon had been dismissed, Mr Collie wobbles had walked into the arena in Chelmsford. And he scored 12 runs, 12 runs of which where played as though he was going to be run out every single delivery. Mr wobbles played a straight shot ball heading back to the bowler and calling a run. Not the best of tactics but he did score some runs to further the Wanstead total. Mr wobbles was replaced by Mr Fayyaz 'there is nothing wrong with my knee, I just cant run' Khan. He also scored 12 runs before leaving the arena. Jim 'the driver for the evening' Croker, didn't add to the total but did look elegant in the way he was dismissed. That is head turned away and ignoring the umpires sign telling him that he has been dismissed, even ignoring the shouts from his team mates to walk off as he has been given out. No Jim was not having any of it. There was a sign of tears welling up in Jim's eyes, but he held them back and walked off head held high and blanked the rest of his team. It's okay Jim, we've all been there...well actually I haven't, but I said the words so you don't feel too bad for playing a bad shot and getting out meaning that out total was rubbish and you let the team down because we lost. No that's not what I'm saying at all. I wouldn't dare say things like that. We play as a team we lose as a team. The blame is equally shared, no that's not what I mean, no one is to blame, not the bowlers that bowled badly, or the fielders that let the ball hit the boundary or the batsman that couldn't hit the ball to the wall or run. Sohail, had answered a very late call up because the initial player had fallen from his car. Anyway, before I perform the usual character assignation on Sohail, I would like to thank him. So Sohail...thanks for playing and contributing to the game. We really appreciate the effort.
Okay , niceties over, Sohail you didn't get a shot off batting and your bowling sucked, what was the point, okay your fielding was brilliant. But look who I'm comparing you to...please.

( I see you've not remarked about the keeper this week...Ed)...Well as you have mentioned the keeper...I will keep it short. He was amazing!
Okay, okay, I can hear you clamouring for more details. Well, had the keeper not been there, the match would been over very quickly. He was there on hand to make some amazing stops and catches that kept Wanstead in the game. The other players were amazed. More detail?? Is that what your shouting? Well, he has just said that he doesn't want anything said about his performance, he is so modest. (What are you like?...Ed)(What do you mean Ed?...) (Modesty...you're the keeper, author and all round spin doctor of the reports, so how can you claim modesty?) ( well there you have it, and I will leave the Editors remarks as they are...they sum up Mr collie Wobbles himself)

Anyway.., the match ended with Wanstead coming in a close second in a two horse race. They all played well and Hutton played better. That's two losses now, so its going to be a tight finish for the semi finals. Will Wanstead get there. Watch this space...
