Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club News story

Start of the junior cricket season is very nearly here!

09 Apr 2024

We are almost at the start of a new season which despite all the rain over the last few months now looks like it will start on 18th and 19th April for all but children in year 1,2 and 3.  This season promises to have more cricket opportunities than ever and we well send more details over the next couple of weeks. This email however just details timing of Thursday and Friday sessions, please read on until you find the time and date of your sessions.

Please aim to arrive about 10 to 15 minutes before your session starts so that you can register with our safeguarding team.  Please also do your very best to be on time. It is very disruptive to our coaches and other juniors for children to join late and therefore this year children will not be allowed to join late unless there are exceptional circumstances. Here are the times:

Girls - start Thursday 18th April

  • Softball cricket sessions, aimed at children mostly in Year 3 to 5, 5 to 6pm
  • Transition to hardball, aimed at children mostly in Year 6 and 7, 6 to 7.15pm
  • Hardball  sessions, for children mostly in Year 8 and above, 6 to 7.30pm
  • Hardball sessions also on Mondays from 22nd April - timings TBC

If you are unsure which session your child should be in, please discuss this with the coaches.

Girls and boys in Year 1 and 2 - mixed sessions start Friday 26th April, a separate email will be sent about timings. There will be three times to choose from

Boys

  • Year 3 - sessions 4:45 to 6pm, starts Friday 26th April
  • Year 4 to 6 - sessions 4:45 to 6pm, starts Friday 19th April
  • Year 7 to year 10 boys - training from 6 to 7:30pm, starts Friday 19 April
  • Year 11 boys up - training at 6pm on Wednesdays from 17th April

Apologies to children in Year 1 to 3, but we have had a great deal of work done on the outfield which needs another week of preparation after all the rain to be ready.

Any questions, please ask.

Here's to a long and sunny season
