Darts at The Drive - Week 6

Week 6 of the Darts at Overton Drive left all competitors and spectators asking, 'who was Dave Richardson's partner?' Some say he is the oldest son of Rolf Harris? All we know is that he was our mystery guest and spoke with a very deep foreign accent!

Alan Lord was less then shy about telling everyone that his previous week's defeat in the quarters was a freak one-off and that this week he would win his 4th title out of 6. He was fortunately partnered by Hero CC's fitness and nutritional expert Mahesh Velani.

Group A was topped by Nugget and our mystery foreign speaking guest as they won all three of their group games. The runners up were Sam Velani and Hero CC's Joseph 'The Crowd Pleaser' Palmer Jnr. Sadly Maureen and Mani showed the sort of form Emile Heskey shows in front of goal week in week out by hitting three blanks in their three matches. Brandon and Rakesh were only one better.

Group B had two teams tied at the top with 2 wins each. However, due to the head to head rules, Alan and Mahesh finished above debutant Jayden Rising and the ever impressive Adam Lord. A disappointed and somewhat less opininated Henry and his partner Nigel had only won one game on the night. If you thought that was bad then spare a thought for James 'half volleys' Fitzgerald as his partner not only turned up late but left before their last game. This literally left James feeling sick!

Semis

By now Nugget, like the rest of us, stopped listening to his partner the mystery guest and this paid dividends as they progressed into the final by defeating Jayden and Adam. The other semi final swung back and forth as both teams boasted a Hero CC member. Fortunately, Mahesh and (sadly) his partner Alan were through to the final. Sam and JP were showing hero spirit in wishing the finalists the very best of luck but Alan was running around telling everyone that it was his destiny to be in the final and to win it.

Final

We were no closer to identifying who the mystery guest was. Most of you are probably thinking that Nugget being one of the better players did not need any extra help and that the partnering was in some way rigged? Be rest assured that his mystery guest partner was as useless as they get. Nugget clearly knew this and needed to up his game again; like a true hero he did. To the crowd's pleasure Dave single handedly defeated Alan and his unfortunate partner Mahesh. There were joyous scenes as certain members of the organisation committee were very quick to run over to Alan and commiserate him on his defeat!

A very happy Dave Richardson with his 'Mystery Guest' celebrating their victory in week 6 of the Darts at Overton Drive

If anyone knows who this Mystery Guest is then please contact us as Tony Pluck will be chasing him up for his subs.

A big thanks to all that participated. Please note places are almost gone for the first ever Wanstead Darts Open being held at Overton Drive on Friday the 13th of January 2012. If you are interested then please let me know asap.
