Match report Wanstead 3rds climb the table after spirited win!

An all round team effort ensured the thirds maintained their recent good form despite last week's blip with a 20 maximum haul against Brentwood.

Bal and Asif were the chief run makers with good contributions from the top and and tail to ensure passing 200.

The bowling was the most impressive part of the display with all the bowlers causing difficulties for the Brentwood batsmen.

Whilst Asif and Hussnain were economic the early wickets fell to Hamza and with Will and Steve picking up a couple each in their tight bowling spells it was left to James to clean up the tail.

A couple of additional memorable moments - Bal with the good and bad of fielding with a sharp run-out (would have been his first for 25 years!) and a skier which eluded him at the last moment. Then the skipper showed the team how to field when one gets past his best with a sliding tackle to prevent 4 runs and another dive over the ball when he probably should have used his feet - kids do not adopt these fielding tactics until you are at least 45!
