Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club Lost

Match report We lost the toss on a very cold and breezy morning and were put into the field.
Overall we bowled very well and were very unlucky not to bowl the opposition out. However, we gave away 39 runs in extras of which 29 was wide bowls. This also reflects how much swing and seam movement the boys were getting.

Sifth Ali opened the bowling with a maiden and even from square leg you see how well he bowled. Sifth's second over went for 7 runs but he came close with at least two occasions

Jeevan Ghataore opened from the other end and followed Sifth lead and produced a great over with a LB shout that I gave the batsman the benefit of doubt and later took his first wicket of the season with an excellent caught and bowled.

The bowling remained tight throughout the innings and everyone got a chance to bowl. George Carlisle, Zac McGarth and Raees Patel produced unplayable deliveries to dismiss one batsman each with mid stump LBWs

Michael MaCardle, Joseph Fitzgerald and Shivum Pitrola all swung the ball very well and got a wicket each.

Arun Kuller kept wicket very well and only conceded five byes on a day when the ball was swinging so much.

A special mention for Shivum Pitrola who fielded brilliantly

In the batting, Arun Kuller started well with Raees Patel who was unfortunate to be run out to some very good fielding in the covers.
Louis Fleet replaced Raees and scored runs from the first ball. He played some great shots and only some good fielding prevented more runs. Louis was out to a ball that swung and then hardly bounced.

After a frustrating 3 maiden overs, Michael McArdle hit four boundaries and retired at 21 and then Sifth Ali (19) , Fergal McCardle(7) and Zac McGarth (6 no) worked their way towards the target of 111. Unfortunately we fell 5 short.

Despite the loss it should be noted that the boys played the game in an excellent spirit and their behaviour was impeccable.
