On Sunday, the 1st XI won the Dukes Essex T20 Competition, beating Upminster by 102 runs in the final. They amassed 184-5 with fifties from Zain Shahzad and Feroze Khushi and a quickfire 41 from Kishen Velani in only 19 balls. Upminster never looked like reaching the total and Jack Lord finished them off with 5-14.
The semi-final against Brenwood was a much closer affair. The 1st XI scored 131 due mainly to a fine 31 not out from Aron Nijjar at the end of the innings. When the last over of Brentwood’s innings started, they needed 16 to win with 7 wickets in the hand. The first three balls went for four, but Zain Shahzad held his nerve and two run outs saw us win by 2 runs!
