Adnan's Uncles All Vanish

15 Dec 2013

This photograph of the winning moment was taken by the umpire who, having been advised by Adnan to "Keep yer hands in yer pockets, mate," had the camera mounted on top of his head.

The build-up to the crunch match at the UEL between the Herons and the LordsVelanis was epic, with insults being hurled between the teams with the ferocity of Mitchell Johnson's bouncers.

Wanstead's young side stressed their domination over LordsVelanis (geddit?) by dismissing Jack first ball before he had even faced a delivery, thanks to masterly fieldingby Adnan (Hmm ... I wonder who wrote this piece - Ed).  Kishen and Nikunj rebuilt the innings, the latter scoring a swift 25.

Brandon played some nice strokes before being bounced out by Mehad,  who then spread Kishen's stumps all over Docklands.  Soon Mahesh was stumped by the busy Izzy Dar.  The pressure on Nik was doubled now by having to bat with Alan Lord and coping with his notorious running.  He was out trying to smash Aussie Jim back to Oz, much as Pietersen failed to do against Siddle.

The 106 required of the Herons was no challenge, of course, despite Kishen's brilliant catching.  Izzy and, needless to stress, Adnan completed the task with ease, Adnan's strokeplay being particularly classy.
