Match report Wanstead (Group D) Len Stentiford U13 put in an excellent performance today in what turns out was unusual conditions. As per usual, Wanstead loss the toss and where put in, which is what what Ahmed would have done had he won the toss. Anyway, on a slippy wicket and some tight bowling from Wells the opening pair of Ahmed and Rowan made strong start and base from which the rest of the team can build. With contributions from Finlay and excellent performances from Joe and Jayden (both retired), Wanstead set a total of 138 for Wells to chase.
After a break (which included a great cup of tea)Wanstead set about taking the Wells' wickets. With Rowan and Finlay taking wickets in their opening spells Wells where 34 for 2 after 4 overs. Joe and Jayden continued to attack the Wells wickets but where left without wickets to their bowling figures, but kept the batsmen on their toes. Misem and Ahmed followed the pace attack of Joe and Jayden. Ahmed bowled an excellent spell and took a wicket in his final over. Misem with his Leg spin kept the batsmen guessing and took 4 wickets. Finlay came back for another spell and had a hattrick ball to deliver but the Wells batman played it. In the field the Max, Karan, Qais, Harjit all kept the runs to a minimum, hunting the balls down stopping the boundries. An excellent effort. Behind the Stumps Gabriel kept really well in his first 20 over cup match. Well done Wanstead on the 32 run victory
