Match report Once again the Wanstead A team have ventured forth into the MECB U15 Divi 1 matches. Tonight the team did not have to battle against the traffic..hey it was a 9.15pm start. Anyway match 2 was against Old Parks who were a man down tonight. The Captains armband was given to Saurav tonight and we needed to continue the winning form. Again the RSM had put out a strong team and with Saurav winning the toss (a rare thing) for Wanstead, Saurav decided to set Old Parks a total to chase. The usual opening pairings of Saurav and Naail built a tidy opening partnership of 52 before Saurav was caught. In comes Waseem who hits a quick 15 (including a tremendous straight 6) before being run out. Naail soon after Waseem's departure is retired on 25, leaving at the crease Aditya and Finlay. They did not add much to the total this time but on their departure Ahmed and Naail closed out innings at 92 all out.
Once again Wanstead have a formidable bowling attack and Waseem opens with his formidable left arm pace. First ball, he almost knocks over the leg stump. This sets the tone for the Waseem spell. 3rd Ball the Old Parks opener is back in the pavilion (well the back of the Bancroft Hall) a wicket maiden. The next over was delivered by Aditya who only gives away 4 runs with some greta spinning. In Aditya's second over has a great run out. Back into the attack comes Waseem. Fist two deliveries are dots balls, then out of the ground the stumps go. The next delivery gives away a single, then the last two deliveries produce 2 run outs. Old Parks are 3 for 14. The Wanstead tails are up and are sensing a good victory. Saurav bowls 2 excellent overs to keep the Old Parks reply struggling to maintain the run rate. Similarly Finlay swings the ball and catches the edges of the bat but the catches are missed. Ahmed's 3 overs produces the winning wicket taking ball a great catch by the bowler completes the win. Old Parks are all out for 55. Wanstead A played 2 won 2. Two matches on the 4 November one against the leagues leaders Ilford and one against Loughton await this team. Both Loughton and Ilford are undefeated, lets hope this does not remain. C'mon Wanstead A
