Match report Wanstead ladies lost the toss and were put into bowl first.

Nancy opened the bowling and gave away only 7 runs. Alicia, Neha, Anjali and the skip also bowled good first overs leaving Abberton on 36 runs after 5 overs. Some tight bowling and great fielding stops kept Abberton down to 96 runs after 11 overs. The last over was bowled by the skip and 2 dot balls were followed by an excellent run out by Anjali at point. Another dot ball followed by 3 runs and a wicket left Abberton on 99-2 after 12 overs.

Chasing 100 to win, wanstead ladies opened the batting with Skip and Nancy. A few good shots were played before Nancy was run out for 4 in the 2nd over. In came little Nippy jee (Neha) who played some great shots including a wonderful six straight down the ground. Skip also a hit a four down the ground and was soon retired on 25 runs. Sadie jee was ready to get the show on the road and started off by playing some sneaky shots behind and gathering 3 runs at a time. Soon Neha was retired too on 26 no and Wanstead were on 86 after 10 overs. Needing 14 to win, Anjali and Sadie played some technically tricky shots and took some risky runs (well they count double, so why not?). 11th over went something like this, 1st ball-wide, 2nd ball-3 runs, 3rd ball-3 runs, 4th ball-dot ball, 5th ball-wide and 6th ball-3 runs. This left Wanstead on 99-1 after 11 overs. Sadie jee hit the winning shot and Wanstead Ladies won the game with 5 balls to spare!

Many congratulations to wanstead ladies on winning the Essex Autogroup Indoor Cricket League 2011-2012. A big thank you to all those who came to support us and a very big well done to all of the ladies that took part, it was a fantastic team effort throughout. It has been a pleasure captaining you all and I hope we can carry on the winning streak all through 2012! Well done again!
