Match report For the second week running Wanstead and Snaresbrook 3rds were involved in a tight finish but ended up losing against Hainault and Clayhall at Nutter Lane on Saturday. Having won the toss and electing to bat Wanstead and Snaresbrook set off at furious pace at over 5 an over but lost wickest regularly on an uneven pitch and with some good catches from Hainault and Clayhall. Some solid contributions came from Stephen Ramdial, Sohaib Waqar and Carl Wooloff but it was left to some 6 hitting from Asif Majid to see Wanstead and Hainault past 200. Unfortunately Wanstead lost the use of 10 overs by being all out.
Hainault and Clayhall started solidly despite some tight bowling from Asif Majid and Faldial Bassadien. Unfortuantely 6 chances went down although all were difficult.
Once again it took the spin bowling of Jahansher Akbar (5-68) and the returning Joe Ellis-Grewal (2-50) to get Wanstead and Clayhall back into the match which at one stage was running away as Hainault and Clayhall reached 147-2. The mid-order collapse left Hainault and Clayhall reeling at 197-9 with only 4 overs left but their last two batsman just saw them home. With a little more concentration in the field with Wanstead and Clayhall yielding 8 over throws this was a match they should have won.
