Match report The crunch game of the group against South Woodford, where the two favourites were brought together to decide who finished on top in the group. Burgess won the toss and elected to Bat first confident that the pitch was not fit to chase on. Needing a big score, Wanstead got of to a bad start, losing 2 wickets for 6 runs. Waqar provided some resistance scoring 20 and Phillips also stuck with him scoring 13. Goutam came in, hit a 6 of his first ball and then was bowled for 14, with Wanstead collapsing to a disappointing 97.
Wanstead returned to the field with confidence, knowing that the pitch was hard to score runs on, and with a fiery bowling attack, they had every chance of bowling South Woodford out. Unfortunately a slack bowling display by Rahman and Chaudhri gave South Woodford a good start with not many runs to defend and South Woodford reached 54-0. Ellis-Grewal came on and bowled well taking 1-20 of 8 overs, and Waqar showed some positive signs with a great effort taking 3-25 of 5 overs.
An overall poor performance by Wanstead who knew they had a lot more to offer, but take nothing away from South Woodford who bowled very well in good areas restricting runs.
